I watched the movie X-Men. This movie stars Anna Paquin (Fly Away Home), Hugh Jackman (Kate & Leopold), Patrick Stewart (Charlie's Angels), James Marsden (Sugar & Spice), and Shawn Ashmore (Cadet Kelly).
In a world where mutants (evolved super-powered humans) exist and are discriminated against, two groups form for an inevitable clash: the supremacist Brotherhood, and the pacifist X-Men.
I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.
Fun Facts:
- Hugh Jackman took ice cold showers every morning of filming, in order to help get into character. This continued each time he played Wolverine.
- As of 2022, Hugh Jackman holds the world record for 'Longest career as a live action Marvel superhero'.
- The train station scene where Cyclops and the little boy smile at each other was unscripted. The boy was a huge X-Men fan, and Cyclops was his favorite. The scene originally called for Cyclops to look at the train schedule, but the boy could not stop smiling at James Marsden. During one shot, Marsden just looked back at him and smiled, much to the boy's delight. The director liked it so much he kept it in the final cut of the movie.
- Rebecca Romijn-Stamos' make-up as Mystique consisted of 110 custom-designed prostheses, which covered sixty percent of her body and took nine hours to apply.
- Hugh Jackman did most of his own stunts in this movie.
- This is the only X-Men movie to be mostly an original story. All of the other movies were loosely based on specific stories from the comic books.
- Hugh Jackman has stated that Wolverine is his favorite role.
